It is a known fact that technology has completely changed the face of education and teaching. Educators and teachers have had to change the way they teach because of these new advancements. Once upon a time, it was thought that if each classroom had computers would be the biggest difference. However, that is just simply not the case.
Today, we have advanced so far as obtaining online Bachelors programs and other types of online study. However, schools today also need to look at the cost and actual use of these new technologies.
Teacher-center technology is used to help the teacher. These can be devices to help with presentations or communications. Teachers are using high-tech projection devices more and more because of their recent affordability. While expensive, interactive whiteboards are becoming more common in classrooms, letting teachers create cyberspace interfaces and presentations.
With student-centered technology, the idea is to provide each and every student with a laptop; however, this is still cost prohibitive. Most schools do currently have computer labs that students can use on a regular basis. Additionally, some schools have implemented mobile labs. These labs use wireless technology and can be used throughout the school.
The use of this new technology has created a more interactive and interesting environment for learning. Students are usually familiar with technology, so they embrace the use of technology quickly. Through the use of technology, in conjunction with new teaching methods, students find the subject matter more relevant and meaningful, which leads to a higher rate of learning.
