If you have ever had the good fortune to go to the kind of school where they can afford to spend lavishly on their classrooms and their advanced technical functions (as opposed to the schools which can barely afford to heat the place), then you have undoubtedly figured out that having a high budget for things like the sciences can actually make a significant difference to the educational effort being put forward. After all, there is nothing quite so thrilling as a slide show which is put on through a massive screen built into the wall, instead of going the more traditional (and far less flashy) route of simply using an overhead projector or a board for manual drawing. But of course, having a big budget is not all there is to the proper edification of a group of students. It just helps a lot to keep them awake long enough to allow them to learn some things.
The whole notion of having a big budget comes down to caring a lot about something. After all, when a school cares a lot about something, they are going to devote a larger percentage of their funds to making sure that it is well tended to. In schools that do not care about a particular subject matter in their educational efforts, that subject is going to find itself exceedingly hungry for funds. While this can definitely help out with making sure that the students actually care and that the faculty of this subject gets creative where and when they can, it is not going to impress most people.
Of course, when you are trying to show off an advanced scientific principle to a group of students, it is going to be vital to show it off in the best detail and with the brightest colors you possibly can. After all, today’s students are used to being dazzled at every turn by everything that they see on a screen. If it is not impressive, they will zone out. This is the down side of giving our children everything- they got used to it.
